Shocking Food Discovery You Need To Know About...

The holidays are now upon us! I have heard from a lot of you about how to handle the upcoming holidays and foods that have been shown to play a role in skin issues like acne.

All of us want to look great for the social events coming up. Who wants to be worrying about their skin this time of year right? I know I wouldn't want to be.

I've heard from many of you who are already getting depressed about how your skin looks at this point in the year. However, there is still time to get the radiant and great looking skin you deserve, by addressing what's going inside and what's being put on your skin... only if the changes are made immediately.

Today, I'm sharing some new medical opinions on the shocking impact certain foods can have on your skin.

Often, I am asked about the link between skin issues such as acne, eczema, and even accelerated signs of aging and the food we eat. For many years there was a huge debate about whether food played a role in skin disease.

Today, we know scientifically that it definitely does. Sugar has a direct link to skin health and now we have found that dairy products cause skin problems for many people, especially women.

About 2 years ago a study was released on the effects of altered dairy products and overall health. In that study, it was found that the severity and frequency of acne breakouts and other skin flare ups were reduced in 50% of the participants that had them and eliminated altogether in 40%.

I began having clients immediately cut out dairy and many saw their skin improve. Once we got their skin care routines corrected and changed over to naturally-based products, their skin cleared up completely.

Just this summer noted medical doctor, Dr. Susan Blum of Rye Brook, New York, reported that sugar causes inflammation in the body, which is often reflected in acne -- an inflammatory condition of the skin. I've known this for years from my own experience.

"White sugar and dairy products, which are high in milk sugars, are prime triggers of this kind of inflammation inside the body," says Dr. Blum.

Then there is the common issue of Candida Albican yeast over-growth. This is yet another way that sugar whips acne eruptions up into a frenzy.

"Many people with acne have too much yeast in their digestive tract, and yeast loves sugar. So when you eat sugar, the yeast have a party, and grow. Your skin has yeast in the sebaceous glands," explains Dr. Blum, of the microscopic cells that secrete the oil known as sebum in the skin.

"When yeast grows from the sugar, your skin reacts against it. Something about the dairy sugar is especially reactive for the yeast in the skin, so I suspect that is also something else in the dairy that causes a yeast reaction," adds Blum.

Altered dairy includes skim or 2% milk, low fat cheeses, and mixed blend margarine's. It is thought that the altered products break down and digest differently possibly affecting blood sugar profiles and even liver function.

They are still working on learning the specific why's, but the effects are clearly there.

"When yeast grows from the sugar, your skin reacts against it. Something about the dairy sugar is especially reactive for the yeast in the skin, so I suspect that is also something else in the dairy that causes a yeast reaction," adds Blum.

When it comes to what else could be floating around in your dairy products, the options nowadays are endless.

If that is not shocking enough, here is the real shocker. There are over 60 hormones in an average glass of milk today!

The process of pasteurization eliminates many of the beneficial components of milk (probiotic organisms that fight yeast over-growth), and the homogenization process creates fats that are foreign to most human digestive systems. This is the same for other dairy products as well.

What this means for you is that if you are experiencing breakouts or other chronic skin problems, try removing dairy for a week or two and monitor how your skin behaves.

If you see improvement, then slowly re-add whole dairy products back in to your diet to see if you tolerate them well. Be sure you are using whole dairy and not altered or reduced fat.

Like sugar and gluten, in the future you will be able to have them on occasion without problems... I do and my skin behaves just fine.

Hey Chris. I drink 2% Organic Milk, does that still make it altered. Or should I get whole Organic Milk.

also I was wondering about lactose free milk, if it's better than whole organic hormone free milk? but the lactose free milk probably has additives I don't want. also real butter is prob bad for skin for the same reasons above.

What about Buttermilk? I read that buttermilk aids digestion.
