It's Tea Time For Acne, Sunburn, & Even Damaged Skin!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! For many it was a sun filled one, judging from the questions for help from those who go sunburned. :-)

I'm going to give you a great soothing remedy for this and other skin irritations today. I know first hand about sunburns having grown up in the southern US, it's an inevitable part of life.

There is a very simple solution that will help with this and what's even more amazing is that it can sooth very irritated skin during an acne breakout.

A simple solution of green and black teas, very common and easy to acquire, is all you need. This may sound too simple to be true, but it is and there is even more it can do for skin as well.

Here's How It Works

These same tea extracts can help reduce skin damage caused by cancer radiation therapy, according to American and German researchers.

When they examined the effects of green tea and black tea extracts, they found the application of the teas actually reduced the duration of radiation-induced skin damage by five to 10 days.

"Because the tea extracts are able to work at the cellular level to inhibit inflammatory pathways and reduce inflammation, the healing process is sped up", said the team from the University of California in Los Angeles, California.

As well as testing the extracts on patients, the researchers studied the effects of green and black tea extracts on human and mouse white blood cells in laboratory cell cultures.

They were able to determine that the extracts reduced the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines in human white blood cells. Initially, Green tea extract appeared to have higher anti-inflammatory properties than black tea extract.

However, both the green and black tea extracts inhibited one major inflammatory pathway in mouse white blood cells. The high amount of polyphenols in tea is likely responsible for its anti-inflammatory activity.

Additional findings showed that other pathways are likely involved in its clinical effectiveness.

What this means for you is that whether you have a sunburn or a red and irritating acne breakout, using a strong mixture of green and black tea can soothe and speed up healing.

Here's How I Apply Black and Green Tea On My Skin

To make a strong extract of the teas to use on your skin, you will need to boil 1 cup of water and use 3 bags of each kind of the tea (Black and Green), or 6 bags of each if you get the pre-blended.

After the water boils, turn off the heat, and steep the tea bags for fifteen minutes. The tea will be very strong.

Let the mixture cool completely and then apply on top of the skin to soak in for up to 10 minutes. I would recommend dipping a thicker washcloth in the mixture, ringing it out, and then laying it on top of your skin.

If you have a sunburn, I would recommend to slightly chill the mixture before application. This can be done up to twice per day, but you should notice the effects the first day.

You can find the tea extract at a health food store near you, but it is easy to make your own as well. Now you have a natural and powerful way to address inflamed skin!

The most popular method of treating acne is the use of a topical bactericidal. These are widely available and contain a chemical known as benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is oxidizer-essentially mild bleach. It works as a keratolytic, dissolving the keratin that causes blocked skin pores. | Hair salon prices
